Hand Scribed Forest Refuge, Hastings

This is a holistic project, inspired by the client's desire to have a forest refuge/shelter located next to a pond in his 60 acre woodland. The main requirement was that the building was to be constructed from the client's own timber, sourced from the trees in the wood.

We selected the trees and felled them. Once moved to the site, we then selected the logs required for each level. The logs were peeled by hand, and then scribed ready to be hollowed out by chainsaw so they fit snugly into the log below.

Timescale

Selection and felling took two men five days. The log work took four men four weeks to complete.

This building is now ready to be roofed, floored, and for installation of the doors and windows.
