Hand-scribed two storey Log House, English borders
John's Cabin is a private commission to build a handscribed log house in the clients own 80 acre woodland over on the English borders.
It has a ground floor living area of 76m2 comprising of a kitchen/mud room, living room/diner, bathroom and bedroom. There will be a staircase leading to a second floor mezzanine area of 30m2 that will form the second bedroom/ lounge area.
The timber being used for this project is Douglas Fir and has been sourced within 3 miles of our yard in Aberystwyth.
All the log work as well as the notching in of the floor joists and rafters will take place here in our yard. We will then label all the components ready for dismantling, shipping out and reassembly in the clients wood.
The peeling, scribing and carving for this buidling took approxiamtely 10 weeks. Whilst, the delivery, reconstruction, roof assembly and finishing took a further 12 weeks.
The cost of this project is approximately £86,000 + VAT.
